We offer opportunities to civilians and UTSA students to support our ongoing efforts through various roles.
Staff Positions
Our administrative and professional staff include such roles as access control assistants, security system technicians, customer support personnel, business service specialists, property and evidence personnel, quartermaster, police records personnel and accreditation personnel.
When civilian positions become available, the manager works with the Public Safety Business Service Center manager and UTSA People Excellence to post the position. We encourage you to explore our open positions and become part of our team to support the public safety of our community.
Student Positions
Internships
Public Safety offers paid internships to UTSA students seeking a career in a criminal justice-related field of work. As an intern, you will work in various divisions of the department over the course of a semester, gaining experience in the different facets of police work. Our interns work in patrol shifts, Criminal Investigations, Community Affairs and other divisions of the UTSA Police Department.
Internships are offered every fall and spring semester. We encourage you to visit Handshake two to three months before the semester begins to view opportunities
Student Employment
We offer a variety of employment opportunities to students who are eligible for financial aid through the federal work-study program. We hire students to work in various departments across Public Safety, including Rowdy Watch, Security Services, lost and found, Community Affairs, etc. Visit Handshake to view open positions prior to the beginning of each semester.
