Ergonomics help create a safe and efficient work environment through implementing improved workstation design and tools.

Ergonomic designs and work practices reduce occupational injuries, discomfort and fatigue and can improve your productivity and job satisfaction. People Excellence works with the employee, supervisor and department leadership to collaborate on providing ergonomic support.

Requested ergonomic equipment purchases are subject to supervisor approval. Approval is based on department funding and may be revoked.

Ergonomics Program Overview

  • An ergonomic evaluation is necessary before applying to the Ergonomic Funding program.
  • Funding for this program is limited and requests will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • UTSA Wellness will provide up to $300 of funding for the purchase of a sit/stand desk converter and up to $100 of funding for the purchase of an ergonomic keyboard/mouse combo.
  • Funds apply ONLY to the purchase of sit/stand desk converters and ergonomic keyboard/mouse combos.

Ergonomics Request Process

  • Complete the Ergonomic Self-Evaluation.
  • We will email you feedback about your assessment results and a preapproved equipment list.
  • Supervisors: Include the following information on the purchase order:
    • Name of the person receiving the equipment
    • Item being purchased
    • In the description, include the dollar amount you are using from the Wellness cost center (not the percentage) and the amount to be charged to the department cost center.
    • Attach a copy of the UTSA Wellness approval email. 
    • Complete all fields of the purchase order and email it to UTSA Ergonomics for review.
